Colombie post-accord de paix : gouvernement Duque (2018-2022) et sécurisation de la région frontalière avec le Venezuela

Abstract

This article focuses on the (geo)political foundations and effects of the security strategy of the government led by Iván Duque since 2018 in Colombia, and more particularly on the situation on the border with Venezuela where the reconfiguration of the balance of power following the demobilization of the FARC guerrillas led to a revitalization of illegal organizations and flows, making it one of the regions most affected by political and criminal violence in Latin America. The main challenges of the so-called stabilization policy implemented in recent years are analyzed in the light of the prospects outlined by the peace agreement signed in 2016. The strengthening of public institutions and the militarization of border territories in this transitional context indeed seem to be done at the cost of renouncing structural reforms aimed at reducing the tensions generated by the inequity of Colombian society.
