In this, the last part of the Reminiscences of General C. L. de W. du Toit, DSO, the author relates the events which took place during his stay at Alamein, he describes the visit to Alamein of Mr Churchill, Prime Minister of England and he also discusses the taking over of command by Genl Montgomery and the improvement this effected in the moral of the army. The visit of Genl Smuts to Quassasein is then related and also the sudden death of Genl Dan Pienaar in an aircraft accident. His eventual return to South Africa aboard a Dutch ship is described concluding with the more significant incidents of his career after the war. He mentions, inter alia, the share he had in the passing of Defence Act no 44 of 1957 and expresses his gratitude to God for saving his life and allowing him to return to his family from the war.
