The paper considers the views of the leader of the pan-European movement of the 1920s – 1930s, R. N. von Coudenhove-Kalergi on the relations between Russia and Europe. In his design of ―pan-Europe‖, advanced in the interwar period, such aspects as arbitration, recognition of the inviolability of borders and the common economic space were supposed to become the basis of the integration. R. N. von Coudenhove-Kalergi considered the main cause of creating a common European space to be the resistantce to a possible invasion of Russian troops. According to Kalergi, after the Revolution of 1917 Russia stopped being a part of Europe politically, despite its belonging to the European culture.
