Abstract

Pregnancy and childbirth are important steps in a woman’s life. In Senegal, considerable progress has been made in childbirth conditions. The environment determines the type of childbirth to adopt, and the weight of tradition is a major factor. Indeed, in remote areas, a majority of women still give birth at home. This detailed study of the conditions of childbirth allowed to be impregnated on the two types of childbirth: traditional childbirth and modern childbirth. Some women’s childbirth experiences are collected for a better analysis of the situation. And this reveals that despite advances in neonatal health management, traditional births occupy an important place in this society.
