Abstract

Se realizó un estudio para dilucidar los mecanismos involucrados en el efecto beneficioso de una mezcla antioxidante en el tratamiento del hipertiroidismo; se determinaron: TBARS plasmáticas y urinarias, niveles de hormonas circulantes y especies reactivas de larga vida en orina, aplicando un método novel de detección. En los pacientes hipertiroideos, el estrés oxidativo estaría relacionado con los síntomas, pero no con el nivel de hormonas circulanteA study was made to determine the mechanisms involved in the beneficial effect of an antioxidant mixture on the treatment of hyperthyroidism. Plasmic and urinary TBARS, levels of long-life circulating hormones and reactive species in urine were determined by applying a novel detecting method. Oxidative stress may be related to symptoms rather than to level of circulating hormones in hyperthyroid patients
