In this study, we conducted a comprehensive numerical investigation of the transition region between laminar and turbulent flows in the context of flow around a flat plate. Utilizing advanced computational techniques, we employed both the standard SST (Shear Stress Transport) turbulence model and the transient SST turbulence model available in the COMSOL Multiphysics software package to accurately capture the nuances of flow behavior. By leveraging modern numerical methods, we were able to analyze the dynamics of the transition more effectively, providing a detailed and precise characterization of the flow’s transition characteristics. The findings from this research are significant as they enhance our understanding of the underlying physical processes that govern the transition zone. Additionally, these results hold potential implications for the development of innovative technologies within the fields of hydrodynamics and aerodynamics, where optimized flow behavior is critical for improving efficiency and performance in various applications. Overall, this study contributes valuable insights into the complex interactions that occur within transitional flow regimes.
