There is diversity in the Russian economy. Reducing the heterogeneity of the technological structure of industry is a complex issue. This determines the relevance of the study. The aim of the work is to clarify the technological structure of the domestic industry and industrial regions of Russia. The methods of statistical, structural and comparative analysis were used in the work. Results: 1) The basic theoretical aspects devoted to the development of technological structures are revealed. The conceptual apparatus was refined. The content of the technological structure was specified. The relation of the technological structure to the production, financial and other structures of the industrial system are shown. 2) The change in the technological structure of the Russian industry since 2005 is reflected. The technological structures of Russia and world leaders in the market of high-tech industries are compared. The database of high-tech industries, high-level medium-tech industries and science-intensive activities of the Sverdlovsk region is analyzed. The Middle Urals corresponds to the level of industrially developed regions of Russia. The structure of the complex of high-tech industries in the Sverdlovsk region was established. 3) The main provisions of the «Concept of technological development for the period up to 2030» are highlighted. The mechanisms for supporting technological innovations in Russia considered by the Concept are analyzed. It is necessary to strengthen the industrial policy implemented in Russia and its regions. The mechanism used should take into account the cooperation of defense, research organizations, small and medium-sized businesses, and the acceleration of import substitution.
