Abstract

The publication presents materials for the encyclopedia “Mikhail Saltykov-Shchedrin and his contemporaries”. The dictionary includes Russian and foreign writers, politicians, military leaders, clergymen, cultural figures, censors, book publishers, etc. The authors of public and private reviews whose names were unknown to Saltykov are also taken into account. The present selection includes only a small part of the articles devoted to Russian writers.
