Abstract

The implementation of a cemetery has undergone several transformations during over time during the various amendments formed by the widening of the urban gear causing different effects for people who live in its vicinity. This article aims to study the relationship of the installation of the cemetery with the urbanization process of moving towards this location. The methodology is based on theoretical BORGES (2001), Carlos (2005), Santos (2013) and in-depth studies of Resolution CONAMA 335/2003 and 368/2006, the data collection was structured through questionnaires applications, informal interviews and field observation of the structural conditions of the neighborhoods and the cemetery. The results show that with the advance of urban sprawl toward the cemetery, coupled with population growth, caused irregularities which bring impacts to natural resources and the resident company of the União dos Palmares. Given this reality, we believe that with passage of time and the transformation of urban space and its growth, some security elements have been overlooked, putting the health of those housed at risk neighborhoods.
