Children's Dignity within a Culture of Sanctioning - Images of Recipients of Child Welfare Services
Abstract
Sanctioning young people seems nowadays not to be something employed as a last resort, but rather something consist within the everyday lives of young people in numerous institutions. This article conducts an ethical reflection on the issue of punishing practises along the basis of qualitative interviews with child-welfare agents and one young person living in residential care. It raises the question, if these sanctioning practices are an expression of a broader culture of sanctioning in current European welfare states.
