Monuments created in the 60s and 70s of the 20th century in Yugoslavia, to the glory of the struggle against the occupiers during the WWII, were once the gathering places of pioneers, youth, war veterans and their descendants. Because of its historical and ideological significance, the places where famous battles took place were carefully planned and touristically arranged to be easily accessible, attractive and equipped for mass stationary and/or transit tourists' stay. Although built for ideological reasons, their shape, size, the way they are placed in the landscape, as well as the artistic quality of these sculptures exceed their historical and ideological significance. Their morphology, design and indestructible materials they made from are modern, abstract and even futuristic, and thus they deserve respect and a special place in contemporary art. Thus, only because of its temporal and ideological, and not the aesthetic and physical links with communism, these works became the locations which are circumvented, which are not taken care of, and which do not have more importance in educational system as altars of liberty, equality and justice. The aim of the paper is to show, trough detailed evaluation, the importance and place of the selected monuments, in the overall system of monuments, regarding to the memorial, hospitality, cultural and educational, sports and recreational and natural function. One of the primary tasks is the classification of monuments according to the importance and construction.
