LINGUOCULTURAL SPECIFICITY OF COMMUNICATIVE STRATEGIES AND TACTICS IN THE GENRE OF SCIENCE PUBLIC LECTURES
Abstract
The purpose of this research is to study the linguocultural interpretation of communicative strategies and tactics in the genre of public science lecture. The relevance of this article is defined by the necessity of further investigation of public science lecture within the scope of communicative linguistics as well as linguocultural exegesis of communicative processes. The subject of the survey is the strategies that actualize the process of communication by a speaker performing a scientific lecture before public. The object of this study is the communication at a public scientific address. This research is carried out by using the methods of linguocultural analysis, linguopragmatic characteristics, contextual and discursive analyses. The data for this study are based on public talks presented at the American conferences TED. The communicative behavior of a speaker carrying out the public speech in English is analyzed. In the theoretical part, the main issue is that the communicative strategies are stipulated by a linguocultural code. In the course of the research, it is stated that the linguocultural specificity of public science lecture in English communication is due to such evaluative dominant as ‘the strategy of English communication’. The results can be applied in the teaching of the theory of communication, the courses of linguoculture, discourse, speech genres and sociolinguistics.
