DIVINE REVELATIONS ON THE FRANCO-VISIGOTH ROADS RURING THE 4TH-7TH CENTURIES
Abstract
In Late Antiquity, travellers suffered countless difficulties when setting out on a journey. The roads were full of problems and in this scenario numerous clerics crossed the Iberian Peninsula and France either to attend the councils to discuss different aspects of dogma or to reach new monastic centers, all after the Council of Nicaea. Thanks to the detailed accounts of the hagiographies, we can give shape to the relationship between man and God in critical situations during a journey.1 KEYWORDS: Travellers, Late Antiquity, Christianism, Revelations
