Historické pramene o hlavnej postave Platónovho dialógu Menón (Historical sources about the main character in Plato’s dialogue Meno )

Abstract

The text tries to find as much as possible references and information by classical authors about the main character in Plato’s dialogue Meno. This person is mentioned by Xenophon, Thukydides, Strabo, Plutarchus, Diodorus Siculus, Homer, Dinarchus and Demosthenes. But except Xenophon and Diodoros Siculus is not Meno, the wealthy young man from Thessaly. Xenophon’s remarks in his book Anabasis are more analysed and put into comparison with the Plato’s view.
