The complete mitochondrial genome of Echis coloratus (painted carpet viper)
Abstract
The painted carpet viper (Echis coloratus) is a venomous viper species endemic to the Middle East and Egypt, occurs in rocky deserts, from sea level to altitudes as high as 2500 m (8200 ft). Herein, we describe the first snake assembly mtDNA in Echis genera, which contains 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), two rRNA genes (12S rRNA and 16S rRNA), 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, and one control region (D-loop). The complete mitochondrial genome sequence provided here would be useful for further understanding the evolution of Echis and conservation genetics of E. coloratus.
