French Guiana is located in the heart of the Guiana Shield, among its masses natural resources it conceals a huge, dense and varied forest. Unfortunately, unrecognized because of the surface and the isolation of its territory. However, the forest offers an exceptional biodiversity classified in the world public goods. France is the First tropical forest country of the European Union due to its 8.22 million hectares (32 % of the French Forest). That gives it a leading International responsibility, in terms of valuation and preserving integrated ecosystems within the Amazon. But the interest of various actors (Riparian States, Private mining companies, Local communities, etc.) can lead to a major conflict in the perception and approach of the management of its forest heritage. The auditions, interviews, surveys – and statistical studies – we have conducted with most stakeholders show this. In addition, the issue of sustainable development highlights various threats to fight and to enforce Public policies for the protection of this large forest. In this context, a new paradigm for the development of the Guyanese territory in search of growth can go through a strategy of valorizing this immense forestry potential to make it more attractive.
