Abstract

Hadd is a terminology used in the Islamic criminal law and it denotes the severe kind of punishment in Islamic jurisprudence. Generally, when this term is spoken, it is taken for the amputation of hand or administering of lashes to the offender in religious and academic circles. In the current paper, it is explained that the said term has been confined to the field of criminology by the Islamic jurists; however, it has an expanded and vast comprehension in the Arabic language, the %lean and Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH). Hence, all commandments and prohibitions have been accumulated in this term besides being used in the field of criminology, commonly.
