Abstract This paper proposes a high step‐up DC–DC converter using coupled inductor voltage multiplier cell and differential connection method. The proposed converter is obtained by differentially connecting a Cuk converter and a Buck‐Boost converter and integrating a coupled inductor voltage multiplier cell. The control mode of the two switches adopts interleaved control and the proposed converter has higher voltage gain. The diode‐capacitor branch in the shared topology is used as a passive clamping branch to reduce the maximum voltage stress of switches. The working principle of the proposed converter is analyzed and its performance parameters and boundary conditions are given. The voltage gain of the converter can be improved by adding different voltage doubling structures and the general topology of the proposed converter is given. The effect of leakage inductance on the performance of the proposed converter is analyzed. Finally, a 300‐W prototype was built and verified the theoretical analysis.
