Efficient in-situ end-functionalization of polydienes by isothiocyanate via neodymium mediated coordinative chain transfer polymerization system
Abstract
The Nd (vers) 3/Al (i-Bu) 2H/SiMe2Cl2 rare earth coordination reversible chain transfer system was used to catalyze the polymerization of conjugated dienes. By utilizing the high activity of its active chain end, η 1-allylc-Al, with thioisocyanates, end functionalized conjugated dienes were efficiently prepared. The functionalization reagent PDITC has no effect on the overall polymerization behavior, and according to the nuclear magnetic resonance hydrogen spectrum calculation, the functionalization yield is as high as 100%. The functionalized polymer has a smaller water contact angle, indicating a significant improvement in its hydrophilic properties.
