The result of laser irradiation on bulk polycrystalline CuInTe2 was studied using micro-Raman spectroscopy. Chalcopyrite structure was observed for the sample through X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. Raman measurements were made during and after laser-sample interaction by suitable choice of laser power and spectra integration time. Laser irradiation resulted in tellurium segregation as strong A1 mode and E modes of tellurium dominated the spectra acquired after laser-sample interaction. However, during laser irradiation, the A1 mode intensity of CuInTe2 always remained as highest. The observed changes were attributed to Raman signals arising from a region has segregation of tellurium due to laser irradiation and another not affected by irradiation. Instantaneous temperature rise during the laser interaction was estimated and shift of A1 mode of CuInTe2 was plotted. The obtained results were corroborated with change in Raman shift.
