Abstract

La Catedral de Santiago, obra de autoría colectiva, a mediados del s. XVIII dio lugar a una discusión central en el desarrollo de la disciplina arquitectónica en Chile: el ajuste entre la forma construida y su resistencia a la contingencia de los terremotos.A central disciplinary debate for Chilean architecture took place in the middle of 18th century at the Cathedral of Santiago. This collective work was the place where the tension between built form and resistance to quakes met.
