At the beginning of 1990s, the success of Samarcanda opened the doors to a brand new storytelling of politics and his leading actors. Michele Santoro’s TV program didn’t just claim its diversity from the inflated newscasts, but turned squares from catalysts of dissent to laboratories of a political and civil commitment. At the same time, Samarcanda became the archetype of the new infotainment, based on the contrast between government and square and a renewed desire of participation to the public affairs.
