PARADIGMS AND DIRECTIONS OF MINERALOGY

Abstract

The article contains comments and additions to V.A. Popov's article "On the Essence of the Mineral World and the Paradigms of Mineralogy" (Mineralogy. 2015. No. 1. Pp. 6-12). Mineralogy is the science of crystals and crystalline grains (individuals) of the substance of the Solar System, their composition, shape, anatomy, relationships, parageneses and formation conditions. The modern paradigm of mineralogy: morphology, anatomy, surface character and grain boundaries, chemical and isotopic composition of crystals and crystalline grains, their parageneses and aggregates reflect the conditions of their formation. An extended list of mineralogy areas is proposed.
