This paper provides descriptive analysis of 2.126 articles published in 20 Brazilian tourism journals from 1990 to 2012. It offers a comprehensive and objective picture of these journals, contributing to the debate about editorial policies, as well as to a broader understanding of the Brazilian academic research developed in this period. The study analyses the evolution of the number of published papers and descriptive statistics about the length of articles, titles and abstracts. Authors with the largest number of publications and the most recurrent keywords are identified. The integration level among journals is analyzed; point out which publications are closer to the center of the Brazilian tourism scientific publishing network.
