Reflects on the importance of the subject leadership in information units, so that dissonance between those who command and those who are led, can’t reflect the use of leadership principles by managers of information units. It presents the differences between the perception of the direction of the Federal University of Bahia Libraries System - SIBI/UFBA – and their chief librarians, as result of a study that evaluated the strategic efficiency of SIBI/UFBA from the perception of those librarians. The dissonance of opinion between leaders and subordinates may reflect leadership problems. It is concluded that there are dissonances, or clearances of opinion between the top leadership of the SIBI/UFBA and its work team (direction of SIBI/UFBA and its chief librarians), indicating that there precariousness signals in the vertical and horizontal interactions and in the human relations.
