The paper aims to identify some difficulties as well as the possibility of integrating psychoanalysis in the university, from a Freudian and Lacanian perspective. Subsequently, we present some of the contributions of Freud and Lacan to the teaching of psychoanalysis in this sphere. We differentiate teaching from transmission, and the scientific discourse from the discourse of psychoanalysis. We maintain that transmission goes beyond teaching and that the discourse of psychoanalysis seeks to evidence and to question the place of truth present in scientific discourse. Afterwards, in search of a place for psychoanalysis in the university, we present a proposal for its integration via the Laboratory of Psychoanalysis, Creative Processes and Political Interactions (LAPCIP) in the Federal University of Santa Catarina. We conclude that to give a place to psychoanalysis at the university is always a bet guided by desire, which does not imply closure for other possibilities.
