Cuestiones cognitivo-semióticas en torno a Viento de otoño (1998) de José Manuel López López a través del autoanálisis musical
Abstract
This article aims to show how some elements of musical self-analysis may reveal significant cognitive issues about composition. For this purpose, I first draft a methodological framework that mainly borrows from some considerations about semiology in neuroscience and cognitive linguistics fields applied to music by Stefan Koelsch and Lawrence M. Zbikowski. Next, I use this framework for scrutinizing José Manuel López López’s Viento de otoño [Autumn wind] (1998) alongside disparate sources by the composer directly related to its composition. This case study analysis entails a better grasping of the composer’s creative practices and an evaluation of the potential and limits of my methodological framework.
