Les protestants de Paray-Le-Monial de la cohabitation à la diaspora (1598-1750)
Abstract
A small Protestant community existed in Paray-le-Monial from the 16th to the 18th century. This article studies it from 1598 till 1750 by trying to define its identity. It is characterized by an overestimation of the Calvinist ethics and by practices of cohabitation with the catholic majority. The persecution, at the end of the 17th century, pushes to the exile the Protestants of Paray, who leave to Geneva where they succeed outstandingly well on the economic plan.
