La política social y familiar en la obra de Severino Aznar
Abstract
Severino Aznar, a sociologist and expert on social policy, he lived in an age marked by great changes in all areas of the emerging society of the twentieth century. Catholic and profound commitment was part of the movement called the “social Catholicism,” whose precursor was Father Vincent de Paul. His constant concern and all efforts were concentrated on the fight for the rights of the lower classes always inspired in church teaching. Director General of the National Insurance Institute (with Franco’s government), and director of the Institute of Sociology Balmes, whose organ of expression was the International Journal of Sociology. It is in this magazine where we place most of his works relating to the field of demography and family sociology. His prolific work is hardly recognized in the panorama of Spanish sociology, but this author can be considered as a precursor of studies on Sociology of the Family in Spain. His works on this subject have recently been compiled in the book “The social institution of the family seen by a demographer (2008)”, published by the Center for Sociological Research
