Debating issues of social and legal protection of minors assisting the operational units of the penal system in the fight against crime

Abstract

Background. Currently, despite the decrease in the number of convicts serving sentences in educational colonies, the state of the operational situation in these institutions remains difficult, due to the deterioration of the criminological characteristics of the special agent, the continuing attractiveness of the values and traditions of the criminal subculture for juvenile convicts. The above determines the need to improve the work of operational units of educational colonies to counteract penitentiary crime. A special place in the law enforcement activities of operational units is traditionally occupied by the possibility of using the help of citizens in solving emerging operational and investigative tasks. However, the study of the current legislation has shown the existence of problematic issues existing in the field of social and legal protection of persons assisting operational units in the fight against crime, which reduces the effectiveness of law enforcement agencies executing crim-inal penalties. The purpose of the work is to identify and specify measures to improve legis-lation in the field of social and legal protection of minors who assist operational units of the penal enforcement system. Materials and methods. Normative legal acts and scientific works on the studied problem were analyzed. The methodological basis was formed by the dialectical method in combination with formal legal and logical methods of cognition. Re-sults. The analysis of the main regulatory legal acts affecting public relations in the field of social and legal protection of persons assisting law enforcement agencies to varying de-grees has been carried out, problematic issues in this area requiring consistent and system-atic solutions have been identified. Conclusions. On the basis of the analysis carried out, the measures to improve the legal relations under consideration are specified, which make it possible to increase the efficiency of the operational units of law enforcement agencies.
