Défense et conservation de la biodiversité cultivée au-delà de la forme, de la couleur et de la performance

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to introduce to the current discussion on the conservation of Cultivated Biodiversity the cultural complexity that goes through these practices, and show the context of economic and political subordination in which peasant and native peoples perform it. Likewise, it is argued that public policies and in situ conservation actions have not significantly contributed to the preservation of Mexico´s cultivated diversity. On the contrary, they have been a factor of erosion of this diversity, as well as a vector that has led to the displacement of thousands of communities and families from their role in this field. Finally, it explains the importance of the cultivated diversity as a matrix that gives sense and organizes social time, work forms and even the systems of positions among other elements, which allow the cultural reproduction of peoples.
