This article aimed to analyze the narratives of rural women from the sertão sergipano through the use of oral history as a research tool. To this end, interviews and bibliographic revision were carried out, as well as a selection of narratives that were collected by members of the Professional Master's Degree in History Teaching at the Federal University of Sergipe - UFS, in the semester of 2019.2. These narratives are intended to contribute to demystify the prejudices and stereotypes that surround the country woman, as well as to highlight the adversities of the daily life that these women need to face. In addition, an attempt was made to elaborate a work that can serve as a subsidy for history teachers when working with issues related to the life of the backcountry woman and to encourage the use of oral history as a source and research method.
