PASSING CLASSES IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS (TURKEY AND OTHER COUNTRIES: A COMPARATIVE STUDY)
Abstract
In this study, the system of passing a class in Turkey and some member of EU countries is mentioned. In most European countries like Germany and Greece, in the first three years of compulsory education evaluation and passing a class is done depending on students’ success and performance. They do not put giving grades into practice. Australia to be the first, in most countries teachers’ observation comes first. In general, there is no failing a class, in some compulsory situations; there is a repetition of a class. Austria is similar to Turkey in the respect of passing a class.
