Approche onomastique de Les grandes marées de Jacques Poulin

Abstract

This study aims to carry out an onomasticsanalysis in order to extract the keypoints in the novel Les grandes marées byJacques Poulin. Literary onomastics gives usthe opportunity to discover nuances in thiswork which, a priori, are imperceptible, butcould be important for its interpretation.This type of analysis allows us to easilyunderstand the portrayal of the charactersand the relationships maintained betweenthem.In this analysis, we intend to demonstratehow the choice of characters’ names, evenplace names, is deliberately used by theauthor and as a consequence, this interpretationcan help us to obtain a better understandingof this work.
