INNOVATIVE FORMS OF CULTURAL AND EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES OF CHILDREN’S LIBRARIES IN UKRAINE
Abstract
The sociocultural activity of a modern library, which includes cultural and educational activities, gives an opportunity to represent multifaceted activities of a concrete library to wide readership, to expose the variety of its resources and to spread knowledge. The cultural and educational activity is a system of special events and purposeful activity in relation to organization of leisure, which aims to develop high spiritual culture and moral qualities among the citizens. The regularities of this type of activity are in accordance with the measures, which are combined by a general goal and task of cultural and educational work, correspond to the specific content, methods and forms, specifics and living conditions of the citizens, composition of the audience, cultural needs, time and place of their conduct, the professional level of organizers as well as available resources for material and technical support of libraries. The cultural and educational activities of libraries for children promote popularization of reading among the children and also encourage the kids to visit libraries. Each library designed for the youngest users conducts annually a lot of mass and educational events. In order to diversify the program of this type of activity, the managers and organizers resort to using different forms and types of work. It is reasonably substantiated in the article, that the main feature that unites all kinds of cultural and educational activities is focused on development and popularization of children’s reading and also increasing readership of libraries. On the basis of analysis of activity of five powerful libraries for children the author created a list of the main forms of cultural and educational activities. The following libraries were analyzed – the National Library of Ukraine for Children, Lviv Regional Library for Children, Kharkiv Regional Library for Children, Taras Shevchenko Khmelnytsky Regional Library for Children, Chernihiv Regional Library for Children. The most popular and mostly used forms of works are: dramatic performances, training sessions, contests, promotions, projects, festivals, presentations, games, quests, flash mobs, exhibitions and excursions. In the process of analysis, the author identified the forms of activities that could be considered as innovative ones. The innovative events are divided into measures of technological direction, socially-psychological influence and artistic direction, etc.
