Objectives The purpose of the article was analysis and evaluation of the use of information systems in Polish universities and colleges in the context of sustainable development. The main hypothesis was formulated as follows: The use of information systems in universities and colleges allows equal access of users to digital resources and has a positive impact on the quality and development of education, contributing to the fourth and tenth goals of Resolution 70/1 on sustainable development. Material and methods In preparing the article, the following methods were used: literature survey, descriptive analysis, empirical and formal methods. To verify the assumption, a questionnaire survey was conducted on a sample of 1028 respondents from 32 Polish universities and colleges. Results The research confirmed that the information systems used enable the verified sustainability goals. Conclusions The conclusions of the survey indicate that there is similar access to information systems for users, although there are some differences in their use. Information systems contribute to improving the quality of education and the proper flow of information in units while reducing its time. The importance of selected attributes that define information systems was pointed out, and they are: "Confidentiality", "Reliability" and "Security", as well as areas for improvement like "Completeness" and "Failure". Differences in the time taken to enter information into the systems were also noted.
