POLÍTICAS DE AÇÕES AFIRMATIVAS: ESTUDO DAS RESERVAS DE VAGAS DA UNIVERSIDADE ESTADUAL DE SANTA CRUZ
Abstract
The article contains a study on affirmative policies in public universities, which have becomeone of the most import social inclusion tools in the country’s recent history. The mainobjective is to track the academic path of the first class under the seat reservation system atSanta Cruz Estate University (UESC). First, there is an analysis of actions taken by theUniversity to guarantee the permanence of students throughout the length of the course.Following, there is a social-economic profile analysis of the 2008 selective process candidatesdividedinto two groups (seat reservation and universal selection process) applying the qui-square test. At last, there is a comparison between graduation rates from both groups. Resultsshow the increasing number of programs that facilitate student permanence andevidentiatesthat over half of the students who entered university through the seat reservation processactually finished their under-graduate studies. Thus, it is of relevant pertinence the productionof deeper studies about these students, which are bound to contribute with access,permanence, and conclusion areas of University policies.
