Features of the Holter ECG monitoring in the prevention of sudden cardiac death syndrome in pediatric practice, depending on the gender and age of patients
Abstract
Background. Identification of life-threatening risk factors for sudden cardiac death in children associated with cardiac arrhythmia is an urgent problem in pediatric cardiology. The most appropriate method for diagnosing all life-threatening arrhythmias is Holter ECG monitoring. Te purpose of the research is to study the results of 24-hour ECG monitoring in children aged 0 to 18 years who were examined in the department of functional diagnostics of the Penza Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital named after N.F. Filatov for 2017 to identify life-threatening arrhythmias, as well as to evaluate the importance of the Holter ECG method. Materials and methods. On the basis of the department of functional diagnostics of the Penza Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital named after N.F. Filatov conducted a retrospective analysis of the Holter ECG monitoring’s results for 2017 in 480 children aged 0 to 18 years who were examined and treated in the neurological, rheumatological departments, as well as the department of pathology of newborns and premature babies. Results. A study conducted in 480 children made it possible to identify cardiac arrhythmias in 475 (99 %) children, including 90 (18.75 %), to identify life-threatening conditions in children. Conclusions. Analyzing the results of the surveys, it was proved that Holter ECG monitoring is the main method in diagnosing cardiac arrhythmias in children, which are recorded during the day in pediatric patients undergoing this study.
