Vulvovaginitis and Cervicitis: Pathogenesis, Diagnosis, and Treatment
Abstract
Abstract This case-based lecture was designed for small groups of medical students and residents as part of a women's health curriculum. The format is case-based with questions and answers following each of the five cases. The cases cover a number of conditions including bacterial vaginosis, candida vulvovaginitis, trichomonas, sexually transmitted infection screening and treatment, and atrophic vaginitis. The resource is designed to stimulate small-group discussion rather than didactic lecturing. The content of this publication may be designed as a PowerPoint presentation with visual images of microscope slides provided by the facilitator. It may be helpful to prepare a handout with only the cases and the questions to stimulate discussion. When the session is concluded, a handout with the answers to the questions may also be provided.
