Abstract

André Baillon, Georges Simenon, Eugene Savitzkaya and Jean-Philippe Toussaint: four Belgian nove-lists, while portraying precisely their time, ensure generally avoid the great History. They attach indeed to depict the everyday world of men, women and children of their time. But History sometimes appears suddenly and occupies a place unexpected. We try to see how, when and where.
