De l’événement au problème. Archéologie d’un paradigme mathématique

Abstract

The article deals with the presence in Deleuze of an image of mathematical thought centered on the idea of problem. This vision of mathematics, which Emile Bréhier’s studies trace back to the Stoic and Neoplatonic philosophies, feeds romantic thought as well as the Hegelian dialectic. Passing through the Logic of sense, today this “underground current” leads to the critics of the reduction of mathematics to the calculable and to the deconstruction of the primacy of algorithms.
