Hydroxyl radicals dominate reoxidation of oxide-derived Cu in electrochemical CO2 reduction
Abstract
The Cuδ+ species has been frequently detected during CO2 reduction and plays a key role in C-C coupling for C2+ products. Here the authors uncover that the HCO3 - solution can activate hydroxyl radicals that oxidize metallic Cu to surface Cuδ+ species.
