Female genital mutilation (FGM), which refers to all forms of non-therapeutic interventions that result in removal or alteration of the female sex organs, has deleterious health consequences. By 2018, they reach more than 200 million women and girls worldwide according to UNICEF. This article reviews the state of the art of the most recent legislation in Southern States, such as those of the North, directly or indirectly, given the migration of some Diasporas. In addition, recent studies in public health have shown the extent and diversity of the sequelae related to these practices and have allowed the development of FGM management systems.
