FROM INDUSTRIAL TO CREATIVE CITY: POST-INDUSTRIAL CHALLENGES FOR UKRAINE

Abstract

In modern conditions of increasing the global movement of human capital, information, technology, the role of economic development innovation factors and growth is constantly growing. The post-industrial era accelerates the transition to the latest knowledge-based technologies, information and culture. In modern economic studies, considerable attention is paid to the study of the success factors so-called "smart", creative cities. There are three different varieties of the creative city: place marketing, novel policy process, and creative industries. The article deals with the international experience of developing creative industries on the example of the most successful cities in the world. The interdependence between the level of creativity and the economic development indicators is determined. Ensuring sustainable long-term economic growth in Ukraine and strengthening its international competitiveness directly depends on the speed and efficiency of using the innovative potential of post-industrial development. Structural changes in the Ukrainian industry do not take sufficient account of the modern technological progress requirements. The article examines the experience of introducing and supporting the newest creative industries in Ukrainian cities and identifies the necessary conditions for their further development.
