To understand the energy-saving awareness of residents and reduce their daily energy consumption, a large-scale questionnaire survey was conducted to explore the influencing factors of energy-saving awareness among residents in different regions of China. Taking different climate zones, age groups, urban and rural areas as research objects, the differences in residents' energy conservation awareness were compared and analyzed through survey results. The results indicate that residents' awareness of the energy crisis is significantly influenced by factors such as age, educational level, residential location, residential area, and climatic region. Additionally, residents' knowledge of energy conservation is notably affected by age, residential location, educational level, and household income. Furthermore, household income, residential location, and climatic region are found to have a significant association with residents' energy-saving behaviors. Lastly, residents' willingness to engage in home energy retrofitting is influenced by economic incentives, age, and educational attainment. Based on these results, it is recommended that relevant departments develop tailored energy conservation policies and targeted promotional strategies for different demographic groups, in order to improve the overall energy awareness among residents and effectively promoting environmental sustainability.
