Hubungan Usia dan Status Gizi dengan Enzim Cholinesterase pada Pekerja Industri Pembuatan Bahan Baku Cat di Surabaya
Abstract
The additive is one component of paint that inhibits the growth of bio-organisms in the finished paint product with pesticide-like properties. Workers in the manufacture of paints are one of the populations that are at risk of being exposed to heavy metals and pesticides, which enter the workers through inhalation for a long time continuously. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was a relationship between the age of workers and the nutritional status of the Cholinesterase enzyme in workers in one of the paint raw material industries in Surabaya. This study used a cross-sectional study design with a sample of 89 workers. The variables in this study were age, nutritional status values as measured by BMI values, and cholinesterase enzyme activity. The correlation test results using a nonparametric test, namely the Spearman correlation test. The correlation results show no significance between age and CHE levels (p-value=0.376) and that there is a relationship between BMI and CHE levels (p-value=0.003). It is recommended for future researchers to add research variables including the influence of the length of work, work habits including smoking habits and exercise as well as the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while working.
