Hydrogen content is the main factor affecting the quality of aluminum alloy melt,so it is very important to accurately and rapidly measure the hydrogen content in aluminum alloy melt to improve the quality of the casting. Based on the principle of inert gas circulating method, a fast detecting device with low cost, high precision and good durability for hydrogen content in aluminum alloy melt was designed by using thermal conductivity sensor TCS208F to replace the thermal conductivity cell in the traditional hydrogen measuring instrument. The device comprises a circulating system control unit and a data acquisition unit. Under the control of the computer, the automatic test was completed. The experimental results show that the detection device designed by the authors has the same measuring precision compared with the commercial hydrogen.
