La machine à café, l’atelier et la chaîne. Quelques réflexions sur l’usage de la photographie comme support d’entretien

Abstract

The photo-elicitation interview is a quite new survey method in French social sciences. Based on a sociological research with metalworkers, the article aims to discuss heuristics contributions of this mode of datas produced after a presentation of various historical designs of this method. By visual confrontation with other working places, the photo-elicitation interview catalysed expressions on aspects of the social relationships of work crystallized in workspaces. If it offers itself as an interesting way of understanding, the photo-elicitation interview isn’t this “can opener” (Collier) that it is too often supposed to be.
