This article seeks to provide a critical and reflexive account of an approach founded on a political relationship to the landscape project leading to a study of the possible interactions between scientific knowledge, the knowledge of inhabitants, and the landscape project. It sheds light on an experiment in the creation of an inhabitant landscape cooperative (in French, Coopérative habitante de paysage). The objective of this cooperative is to bring together different socio-ecological groups to reach beyond epistemological and practical boundaries in an integrated approach to address issues relating to urbanisation, development, and the protection and enhancement of environments and landscapes. This experiment was part of the doctoral study conducted by the author, who is a landscape architect and doctoral student in Haute Gironde, entitled "Co-inhabiting territorial margins. Foundations and orientations of a cooperative and experimental landscape project in Haute Gironde" (in French, “Cohabiter les marges territoriales. Fondements et orientations d’un projet de paysage coopératif et expérimental en Haute Gironde”). The aim of the study is to build, through action research for and through the landscape project, a cooperative territorial project, based on the possible fertile cohabitation between humans, and between humans and non-humans.
