Huellas y usos de la Ciudad de Dios en el Tractado de república de Alonso de Castrillo (1521)

Abstract

This works aims to study the presence in the Tractado de república published in Burgos by Alonso de Castrillo (in the context of the revolt of the Comunidades of Castile) of many quotations and extracts from the The City of God. The use of Agustine’s text, which in many occasions tends to distorsion, reveals the author’s intentions, even though he carefully avoids any theoretical reflexion about the forms of government.
